Obituary
On Tuesday, August 24, 2022, Ruben Miguel Rivera, Jr, “Mikey”, longtime resident of Guilford, Connecticut, but most recently of Newburgh, New York, passed away peacefully at Mt. Sinai Hospital.
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on September 30, 1967.
Son of Luz Plaza and Ruben (Olga) Miguel Rivera; Father of Christian Hansen. Brother of Henry Rivera, Lisa Shepard (Rivera), Elias Maldonado, Jr., Rogelio Maldonado, Angelo Rivera, Ruben Rivera, Jr., Noel Rivera and David Rivera; along with sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and countless friends; along with the entire community of Newburgh, NY. Predeceased by younger brother, Jose Rivera.
During his younger years, Mikey was a longtime student in Guilford, CT., who loved to play soccer and kick around a hacky sack. You could usually find Mikey throwing a Frisbee on every Guilfordites beloved spot, the Guilford Green. He took pride in working at Moroso Performance Products and Friends & Company Restaurant, both in Guilford.
As Mikey grew, his passions became art, cooking and garden design, all while listening to his favorite FM Radio station, WPLR. He was very good at what he did!
His infectious laugh and enormous smile will be sorely missed by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. George Church, Guilford Tuesday, September 6 at 10am. Interment will be in Alderbook Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hawley Lincoln Memorial, 1315 Boston Post Rd. Guilford Monday from 4-8pm.
