Obituary
On January 29, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital, Jean Martha Hedden Murray died, with her loving daughter, Cathy Murray Clark at her side.
Jean was born on February 21, 1933 in New Haven to Beatrice and Lindsay Hedden. She lived most of her life in New Haven and Hamden. She attended Bowling Green State University and received her Masters in Music from Westminster Choir College. She was the music director at several school systems in Virginia and Connecticut.
Jean was pre-deceased by her parents, and her husband, David Murray. In addition to her daughter she leaves behind her to grieve her brothers, Richard Hedden of Annapolis, Maryland and John Hedden of North Haven, her son in law, Sean and grandchildren Christopher, Tyler, Timothy, Patrick and Laura. For many years, she resided at Davenport-Dunbar in Hamden, where she has many friends who will miss her. Jean never had a bad word for anyone, and she will also be missed by her many friends in Al-Anon.
At her request, there will be no memorial service, but it would have been her hope that we will keep her memory in our hearts.
