Janet Miller Harvey, of North Branford and Woodbridge, Connecticut, died on December 3, 2020 after a brief illness. She was 96 years old. Born in New York City to Tilford W. and Dorothy Day Miller, she was raised in Wilton, Connecticut. Always a good student, she graduated from Wellesley College in 1945 and attended class reunions for forty years. She married Richard Bennet Harvey in 1946 and they enjoyed a happy life together until his passing in 2003. They lived in Woodbridge for fifty years and spent summers at their home in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. In addition to a variety of community activities, Janet Harvey served on the board and as treasurer of the Children's Center of Hamden, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education, care, and treatment of young people with emotional and behavioral health challenges. She spent her later years at Evergreen Woods in North Branford. Janet Harvey was particularly skillful at gardening, tennis, and crossword puzzles, but will be remembered most for her love of family and commitment to sustained friendships. She is survived by two sons, Robert B. Harvey of Dowelltown, Tennessee and Philip N. Harvey of Dennysville, Maine, their wives, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and by a daughter, Pamela D. Harvey of Brookline, Massachusetts.
