Theresa Katherine Vander Veer, 95, of Woodbridge, passed away peacefully with family members by her side on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Martin Vander Veer in 1995 after 56 years of marriage. Theresa was born in West Haven, CT on December 5, 1918 to Carl and Mary Dauenhauer. She resided in Woodbridge since 1942. Theresa was also predeceased by her two brothers, Arthur of Hamden and Charles of Middletown. Mrs. Vander Veer leaves behind her two sons, Martin of Port Orange, FL and Peter, along with his wife, Trish, of Woodbridge. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Amy Vander Veer of Milville, MA, and her husband Normand Bolduc and her great-granddaughter, Rebecca Newberry, also of Milville, MA, along with her two sisters-in-law, Mary and Shirley Dauenhauer. After being a housewife and mother for 23 years, Theresa went back to work at age 42, becoming a sales associate for Broker's Casuals in New Haven where she worked for 23 years until her retirement in 1985. While living in Woodbridge, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. The family would like to thank staff members at both Connecticut Hospice and Arden House for the excellent care given to their mother, along with her longtime care giver, Bethany Grasson of Cheshire.

Friends may call at the Hawley Lincoln Memorial, 493 Whitney Ave., New Haven on Friday, June 20 from 5-7pm.
