Robert Lee Smith,Jr. of Parsippany NJ, formally of Norwalk, passed peacefully at the CT Hospice of Branford on October 19, 2014. Bob was born in Nuremburg, Germany on June 24,1951 to Mary Spears Smith Canfield and Robert L. Smith. In addition to his mother, Mary (Mitzi), Bob is survived by his loving sisters, Nancy (Smith) Shook of Madison and Margaret Smith of Bridgeport; brothers-in-law Greg Shook and Steven Dobbs and his nieces and nephews Rachel, Ryan, Julia and Kyle Shook. He is also survived by his uncles in Virginia and his beloved New Mexico and 11 cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Robert L. Smith and step-father, George Canfield. Bob attended Central Catholic High School in Norwalk and graduated from the New York Military Academy, Cornwall, NY. He graduated with a BA in History from Wagner College, Staten Island, NY. Bob was employed as a senior computer programmer at UPS in NJ and had recently retired. Bob was a dedicated and loving son, brother, brother in law, uncle, and friend. His life was a blessing to all who knew him and he was and will be loved beyond words.

His life will be celebrated at Zion Episcopal Church, North Branford on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's name to The Connecticut Hospice of Branford and the Pancreatic Research Center at John Hopkins University.
