Richard Werle, 79, of Guilford died peacefully July 19, 2014. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, Richard grew up in the Morris Cove section of New Haven. He attended Wilbur Cross High Scholl where he was captain of the hockey team in his senior year. Richard studied engineering at UCONN and became the manufacturing manager at the former Eastern Industries (LFE) of Hamden. He was there for over 40 years. Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Lorenz Werle; son Eric, his wife Holly and their son Benjamin; daughter Wendy Chappuis, her husband Raymond, and their sons Ryan and Reese; brother Bruce and his wife Barbara. Richard was predeceased by his mother Helen Werle Benson.

A memorial celebration of Richard's life will be held Saturday August 30, 2014 11:00am at the North Guilford Congregational Church, 159 Ledge Hill Road, North Guilford 06437. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's name may be made to the North Guilford Congregational Church. Richard was a very special person who was devoted to and cherished his family.
