Raymond Whipple Rensis (JR) passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Krider Rensis of Madison; four children, Grant W. Rensis of Guilford; Todd V. Rensis of Northborough, MA; Cynthia R. Jones (Gordon) of Columbia, SC; Christine K. Rensis-Smith (Jeffrey) and grandson Lukas Smith of Delaware, OH, his brother, Robert B. Rensis (Jeanne) of Glendale, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Arleen Rensis Reiss of Sheboygan, WI. Mr. Rensis was born in Chicago, IL of Elsie and Raymond W. Rensis, Sr. in 1925. He attended Chicago schools and graduated from Senn High School. A WWII veteran in the Army Air Corps, he served in the Pacific Theater as a B-24 aerial photographer until the end of the war. He graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston in 1949, majoring in Speech (Communications,) where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was employed in sales by The Texaco Corp. in Muskegon, MI and Chicago; and putting his "speech" to work he did promotional speaking at Texaco sales meetings as "Smiling Dan the Texaco Man." After 25 years in sales and management with the Bassick Co. in Chicago, Columbus, OH and to Bridgeport in 1973, he had a varied and fulfilling work and volunteer life, he became a manufacturer's representative for several floor protection equipment companies and in that role created RWR Associates. He was a long time member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church where he volunteered and served on the Vestry. Also, until a stroke in 2003, Mr. Rensis volunteered with Madison's Channel 18; he served on the Board and as President of the Deacon John Grave Foundation. He also was a member of the Madison Winter Club and the Madison Historical Society. He enjoyed travel, family camping trips and sailing, serving as Commodore of the Madison Yacht Club.
Services will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 232 Durham Rd., Madison at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 9th. Gifts may be made to the Deacon John Grave Foundation or St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. For online guestbook, please visit hawleylincolnmemorial.com.
