IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paulann (Polly)
Fiddler
July 22, 1945 – June 11, 2024
Polly Fiddler died peacefully on June 11, 2024, at Mary Wade Home in New Haven after several years of dementia. Her husband, the Rev. Andrew Fiddler, was beside her. In addition to her husband she is survived by her loving stepson, Andrew Ezekiel (Zeke) Fiddler and her granddaughter Lucy Fiddler.
Polly was born in 1945 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and attended Moravian Academy and Liberty High School in that city.
She moved to Connecticut to attend University of Bridgeport, taught art in the Greenwich and Darien schools and for thirty years at the Foote School in New Haven. She inspired generations of young people to become artists and lovers of art.
Polly was perhaps most widely known by the Volkswagen Beetle which she painted to resemble a watermelon and drove all over Connecticut.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, at 11AM, at Trinity Church on the Green, corner of Chapel and Temple Streets in New Haven.
Contributions in Polly's memory may be made to The Polly Fiddler Foote School Art Fund and sent to Foote School, 50 Loomis Place, New Haven CT 06511.
