Obituary

Nancy Lincoln Davies, 85 of Cheshire and Hamden, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Nancy was born on June 29, 1929, the daughter of the late Hawley W. and Eleanor Purdy Lincoln of New Haven, CT. She was sister to the late Hawley Lincoln III of Vero Beach, FL.

Nancy leaves behind a loving and devoted family. She is survived by her son, Colonel (Retired) John E. Davies, U.S. Army, and his wife, Jane, of Springfield, VA; her daughter, Diane, and her husband, John Visconti, their children and her grandchildren, Peter and Elizabeth, of Cheshire, CT; her daughter, Susan, and her husband, Les Slater, and their sons and her grandsons, Christopher, Alexander and his wife Susie Thompson and Andrew, of Brookfield, CT; her son, Thomas, and his wife, Kathleen, and their sons and her grandsons, William, Matthew and Jack of Cheshire, CT; and her son, Richard, and his wife, Kate, and their children and her grandchildren, Madison and Jake, of Fairfield, CT.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, John Davies of Hamden, CT.

She grew up in New Haven and Hamden and was a graduate of Hamden High School and Dean College of Franklin MA. She shared many fond memories of vacationing and enjoying the many wonderful times with her family in Summer Island in Branford, Ct.

Nancy and Jack were married on December 29, 1951 in New Haven and raised their family in Hamden Ct.

Nancy was a devoted and adoring mother. She loved doting on children and then doing the same on her eight grandchildren. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, was involved with her local PTO and an avid knitter and crafter. She loved to garden and cook but was best known for her vivacious personality and seemingly endless desire to try new things and have fun.

Often accompanied by her daughter-in-law, Jane Davies, she traveled to many areas around the country and Europe, meeting new people and supplying the family with many fun and amusing pictures of her exploits.

She was a very active participant in the lives of her grandchildren, visiting their schools, sporting events and all their various high school and college graduations. There are many loving stories shared of her generosity surrounding good grades and holiday events.

Quick to make friends, Nancy was loved and adored not only by her family but by many dear friends, especially those that shared her later years at Elim Park Place, her final home.
