Obituary

Muriel Mary Rodriguez Cox, 92, of Hamden, CT died peacefully on December 13, 2020 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Muriel was born September 16, 1928 in New York City to Alfred Rodriguez and Herminia Wood, formerly of Gibraltar. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, George Edwin Cox, with whom she lived in New Haven, CT for much of her life. She is survived by her daughter Lizanne Cox and son-in law, David Gibson; daughter Mary Cox; grandchildren Nate Gibson, Molly Gibson, Jonathan Mohan (Ashley), James Paul Ivey (Claire), and Casey Ivey; and great-grandchildren Caiden, Jack Warner, Kaylee, and Landen.


Muriel loved animals, music, talking politics, visiting with her grandchildren, and spending time on the ocean. The family would like to thank Conchita, Judy, Eileen, and Behi (Betty), her beloved caregivers who took such good care of Muriel in her later years.


A funeral service for family will be held at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby, and a celebration of Muriel's life will be held when COVID restrictions have passed and friends and family can gather safely.
