Helen Benoit, 100 of Vernon and North Haven, wife of the late Frank Benoit for 54 years passed away peacefully on October 30,2OL6. Helen was born in New Haven and moved to North Haven where they raised their three children. Helen was a simple, but extraordinary person. She was genuine, caring and loving to all who knew her. She showed remarkable strength throughout her life as a person of faith and courage. She will be remembered by her family for the many blankets and scarves she crocheted for everyone and the holiday gatherings she loved so much. Always the optimist she kept us all positive about the future despite what we might be facing in the present.
Helen is survived by a daughter Harriet Van Cleef and her husband Robert of Coventry, a son David and his wife Rosemary of Wethersfield, and her son-in-law John Roche of Wyomissing, PA. Grandchildren Maureen Wildman and Daniel Roche of Wyomissing, PA, Cindy Grimmeisen of Alabama, Stephen Benoit of West Hartford and Frank Benoit, also of West Hartford. Helen is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, Jonathan Wildman, Alison Wildman, Carter, Faith and Nathan Grimmeisen, Aaron Van Cleef and Justin Benoit.
ln addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Gwendolyn Roche who loved Helen deeply, three brothers Chester, Harry and Jim, along with her parents Robina and Chester Fraser.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
