Frederick William Rimler Sr. of West Haven passed peacefully on December 7, 2023. He was the husband of the late Alberta Torello Rimler. He was born September 6, 1932 son of the late Frederick William Rimler and Helen Ryan Rimler. He was the beloved father of Gary (Tracey) of Milford, Betsy (Roger) Pare of Franklin, MA, Fred Jr. of West Haven and Sue (Mark Reed) Kubera of West Haven. He also leaves his sister Kathleen (Rimler) McWeeney & family of Jacksonville, FL and was the adored grandfather of Jeffrey Pare (Tara Jeffries) of Nashville, TN, Kelley (Mike) Doherty of Franklin, MA, Samantha Rimler (JP Withington) of Derby and Katelyn (Giovanni) Zaino of Wallingford. He attended St. Francis Elementary School in New Haven and Notre Dame High School in West Haven. He was a Korean Conflict Veteran having been honorably discharged in December 1954. He was a longtime City of New Haven firefighter at Engine 5, Woodward Ave. until his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, landscaping and above all doting on his 4 cherished grandchildren.

There will be no services per the family's request. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you donate to the Fireman's Benevolent Association of New Haven, 952 Grand Ave. New Haven, CT 06511. Arrangements are with the Hawley Lincoln Memorial, 424 Elm St. New Haven.
