Obituary

Frederick T. Koch, 75, avid fisherman, hunter and well driller for over 40 years, peacefully passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown, CT.

Fred, or "Kochie", as he was affectionately known, was born on April 22, 1945 in Madison, CT. Fred spent his entire life on Race Hill Road in Madison with his late wife, Judy Koch, in their cozy country farm home. Fred was a quiet and kind gentleman who worked hard, a breadwinner who provided, a husband who loved his wife, a father who loved his children, a grandfather who adored his grandchildren, a man who would give his shirt for a friend and a neighbor who loved sharing his passion for nature and animals with all who lived on Race Hill Road.

Fred was predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth Koch. He is survived by his brothers John and George (Judy) Koch of Madison; son Tom Picard of Madison; grandchildren Alyssa Picard of Killingworth and Brooke Picard of Madison; great-grandson Jaxon; dog Harry; and small farm of goats, chickens and ducks.

Over the last few years, there was no talk of extraordinary achievements or spectacular events; there was just talk of his loves: his love for the woman he met while playing pool over 35 years ago, his love for the children they raised and for their children's children, his love of fishing and hunting, his love of NASCAR racing and his love of the land and the house he lived in for 75 years.

Fred will forever be remembered for his gentle eyes, caring heart and unconditional love. He was a simple man who has left a permanent mark etched in our hearts and will be missed immensely by many.

A private burial for close family and friends will be forthcoming. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for him over the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to teach a child or an adult how to fish to the Connecticut Aquatic Resources Education (CARE) program
