Obituary

Francis Xavier Shortt (92) of Madison, beloved husband of Diane Shortt, passed away at home on April 24th after a brief illness. He was born in New Rochelle, New York on October 14, 1931, son of Thomas and Margaret Shortt who emigrated from County Wicklow, Ireland.

Frank graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle and attended Fordham University Law School and received his law degree from New York School of Law. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Frank was first employed at the Travelers Insurance Co. where he met his wife Diane of 62 years. Frank entered the F.B.I. in 1963 and served as Special Agent for 23 years. Upon retirement, worked for several banks heading up Security starting with New Haven Savings Bank.

Frank was predeceased by his youngest son, Brian Joseph (Casey) and is survived by three children, Timothy (Mary Ann), Patrick (Lisa), and Kathleen (Joe) along eight grandchildren, Patrick (Marina), Liam, Ryan, Michael, Caleigh, Catherine, Molly, and Declan and two step grandchildren, Kyle and Michelle as well as three great grandchildren, Wyatt, Winn and Wesley all he loved dearly. Frank was also predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Brian and a sister Maureen.

Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus, past member of The Madison Country Club, Former Eucharistic Minister at St. Margaret Church in Madison, and an avid New York Giant and Met fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret Church, Madison Monday morning at 11:00. Interment will be in West Cemetery, Madison. Arrangements are with the Hawley Lincoln Memorial, Guilford.
