Eugene James Cummiskey, 91, passed away on April 30, 2022 at The Guilford House in Guilford, CT. He was born on October 24, 1930 in Portland, Maine to James Eugene Cummiskey and Ruby Nasson Cummiskey. Gene grew up in Portland, Maine, and graduated from Deering High School in 1948. He graduated from Harvard in 1952 and attended Wharton School.

For ten years, he was immersed in the insurance industry - First at The Continental Insurance Company in New York City and subsequently with the family insurance agency in Portland, ME. Later, Gene taught at the Dublin School in New Hampshire and finished his education career as English Department Chair and Director of College Placement for 31 years at the Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT

Gene was married to Elizabeth George Jenkins in 1982 and, upon retiring, moved to Guilford, CT in 1997. While there he became involved in town politics - serving on the Democratic Town Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals and Town Charter Revision Commissions. He was a member of the Harvard Club of NewYork City, Sachem's Head Yacht Club and the Clinton Country Club.

He is survived by his wife "Bet", his son Christopher and his grandchildren Olivia, Christopher Michael and Vanessa Cummiskey, of Washington DC.

There will be no viewing hours. A private funeral service will be held at a future date. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to The Brunswick School, 100 Maher Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830. The Hawley Lincoln Memorial, Guilford is in charge of arrangements.
