Emil Blakely Bernadino(Dino) Nebel, blaster, actor, chef - beloved husband, father, brother, nephew, cousin, friend - passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016.
Dino was born on June 4, 1960 in New Haven, CT, to Patricia Stewart and Emil Corrado Nebel, and grew up near his sculptor-grandfather's stone studio on Roseville Rd. in Westport, CT. He graduated from Staples High School in 1978, played ice hockey and went on to box in the Golden Gloves Competition. He was a cook at the Arrow Restaurant, DeRosa's Restaurant, the Nisticos Red Barn, Dino's Diner and the Brick Restaurant.
He moved to Rangeley, Maine in 1981 to be the chef at the Mountain Inn, where his brother, Chris was part owner. There he met Sara Drought, also a Staples graduate, and they married in 1984, after moving back to Westport.
Dino took acting classes with Al Pia at Silverman Guild in New Canaan and went on to act in plays at the Ethel Kweskin Sterling Barn Theater and in NYC off off Broadway. He was an extra in 4 Saturday Night Live skits, New York Undercover, and acted with Jamie Farr in the musical, South Pacific at the Darien Dinner Theater.
Along the way, Dino and Sara had 3 children; James Blakely, Corrado Carlson and Franceska Nereise. Dino was always involved in his children's lives and coached hockey for many years.
Dino is survived by his wife, Sara, three children; Blake, Cory and Franki, brother, Chris, sister, Victoria, nephew, Albie, aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service is planned at the Unitarian Church in Westport at 10 Lyons Plains Rd., Saturday, November 19th at 2pm. Flowers may be sent to the Unitarian Church and donations in his honor are gratefully accepted at the Dino Nebel Memorial Fund for his family.
