Dian Hodge Rice of both Guilford and Madison passed away September 23, 2018 at Apple Rehabilitation Center in Guilford after a long period of failing health. Dian was born in New Haven, Connecticut the daughter of Grace and Hubert Hodge on November 27, 1932. She attended schools in West Haven and was a graduate of Bradford Junior College. Dian had one child, a daughter Sally who predeceased her. She spent many years living in Atlanta where she was employed by Emory University. She returned to Connecticut and made her home in Madison. Dian was an accomplished quilter and made many beautiful creations including one which was on display for the Olympics held in Atlanta. She was also an active member of the local DAR and held the position of Regent. Dian leaves three grandchildren, Madeleine Perry, Caroline Jones and Henry Hodge Jones who reside in Texas. She also leaves two sisters, Suzanne Birks of Madison, Joan Joos of Hopkinton, NH and a brother Hubert Charles Hodge and several nieces and nephews.
Hawley Lincoln Memorial of Guilford is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Woodbridge.
