Obituary

David M. Ladd

1943-2023

David Michael Ladd died peacefully at home on June 14, 2023 following a brief illness.  David is the son of William E. Ladd and Ruth Purdy Ladd.  David is survived by his best friend, his wife of 56 years, Billie Hankins Ladd and his brother-in-law, Skip Conn.  David and Billie met at Bethany College where David earned his B.A degree.  They married in 1969 and moved to New Haven where David began a career in finance.  After a brief career as a bank officer, in 1975 David founded an investment advisory firm in New Haven, Ladd Capital Management, where David was the managing partner for 48 years.  He was a registered investment advisor and Chartered Financial Analyst.

David's passion in life was golf.  He loved watching golf, talking about golf, reading about golf and mostly playing golf.  His travel was often focused on golf playing many wonderful courses in the U.S. and Europe. He was a member of New Haven Country Club where he served as board member and then President of the Board of Governors.  Over the years David was proud to be a winner of many tournaments with his partners Skip Conn and Bruce Fenn and in 1995 won the Club Championship.

David strongly believed in community service.  In 1986 David was the American Heart Association Man of the Year where he was honored for his outstanding contributions to the Connecticut Heart Association in its quest to conquer heart disease.  David was a volunteer golf coach/mentor at Alling Memorial Golf Course through First Tee of Connecticut, an organization that empowers kids and teen through the game of golf; he then proudly served as a member of the Board of First Tee of Connecticut for 16 years.  He was a devoted board member and friend of the Childrens' Center of Hamden for many years and also served as President of the Board of the Childrens' Center of Hamden.  He was a member of the Society in Dedham for Apprehending Horse Thieves.

In lieu of flowers donations to The Childrens' Center of Hamden,1400 Whitney Ave, Hamden, Ct 06517 or The First Tee of Connecticut, 55 Golf Club Rd, Cromwell, CT 06416 would be appreciated.
