Obituary

Carmel Sullivan, 90, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2021 in New York, NY. She leaves behind her 3 children: John Sullivan, Susan Sullivan (Tony Gonzalez), and Tom Sullivan; and 4 grandchildren: Devin Sullivan, Phoebe Gonzalez, Ian Sullivan, and Lily Sullivan. Born Carmel Finnegan on October 4, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois; she was the daughter of Daniel and Catherine Finnegan, and the sister of Mary, Brenda, and Joe Finnegan. In 1963 she relocated to the East Coast with her family, eventually settling on Whitney Avenue in New Haven, a city she dearly loved. There she worked as a bookkeeper for McNamara Builders & General Contractors, and spent numerous hours supporting and volunteering at local organizations including Long Wharf Theatre, St. Rita's Church, and the Faith Middleton Show on Connecticut Public Radio. In her later years she resided at The Hebrew Home at Riverdale, near her daughter's family, where she spent her time drawing, doing word search puzzles, and enjoying the beautiful view of the Hudson River and New Jersey Palisades.

The Hawley Lincoln Memorial, 424 Elm St. New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
