Anna Opalinski Heins passed away unexpectedly on December 18,2024 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT. Anna was born in New Haven CT on March 30,1928 to Rosalia (Wozniak) and John Opalinski. She was the middle child of 7 children (5 sisters and 1 brother) who have all predeceased her. Anna was also predeceased by her husband, Richard, and 2 daughters, Karen and Christine. She is survived by her loving daughters, Donna (Heins) Walton, Susan Heins, and son, Richard Heins. She will be sorely missed by her grandchildren, Eric Heins, Anna (Richard) Haagensen, Sarah (Brendan) Bell, and her great grandson, Nathaniel (Nate) Bell. Aunt Anna leaves many nieces and nephews and their families as well.
Anna attended Commercial High School in New Haven and right after graduating, was employed at Southern New England Telephone (SNET), During her time at SNET, she advanced to management in the finance department and later retired after 28 years.
Anna lived her early years in New Haven and later moved with her family to West Haven until her retirement. She and her husband, Rich, then moved to their home in Brewster (Cape Cod), MA for a few years. They later returned to CT to be closer to family and resided in Clinton, CT until her death.
Anna always met you with a smile. She was kind. She lived every day of her life with purpose. She was an accomplished seamstress, decorator, chef, gardener, landscaper, problem solver, avid reader, good listener and conversationalist. Anna was always up for a family get-together, she continued family Sunday dinner tradition and was passionate in her preparation for every holiday celebration. She treasured each and every Cape Cod summer vacation.
Most importantly, Anna gave unconditionally as wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her physical presence will be greatly missed, but the gifts she has left will be cherished forever.
There will be no calling hours, A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 30th, at 11:00AM at St Mary Church of the Visitation, 54 Grove Street Clinton, CT 06413. Burial will be private. Arrangements are with the Hawley Lincoln Memorial, Guilford.
