Kristina S. Miller passed away at the age of 66, on February 18, at Yale New Haven Hospital with her husband at her side. Kris was fighting pancreatic cancer, having previously survived 3 other cancers. Kris was the beloved wife of Edward A. Miller III of Clinton and adored by her son Edward Seth Miller (wife Shelley) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was born Kristina Ellen Sokolosky in Melrose, Massachusetts, the daughter of Walter A. Sokolosky and Priscilla (Berquist) Sokolosky. Kris was a graduate of State University of New York at Oswego with a degree in Mathematics. Her career as an IT Professional spanned 38 years working at companies including Aetna Insurance, Yale University, Chesebrough Ponds, and AT&T, retiring in 2007. Kris was very active in the First Congregational Church of Madison. She served on Lay Caring Ministry; founded a cancer support group. Kris was co-chair of the Women’s League and vital to the FCC Music at the Meetinghouse and Strawberry Jazz Festival major concerts. Kris was a delegate to the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ, Treasurer of the New Haven East Consociation as well as a former deacon, former chair of Music Committee and former chair of the Fellowship Commission. Outside of church, Kris had been a Cub Scout Den Mother, the Treasurer of the American Association of University Women, and had recently joined The Schiller Shoreline Institute For Lifelong Learning Advisory Board. In addition to her husband and son, Kris will be missed by her brother, Peter Sokolosky (Faye) of Bedford, NH, sister Judi Riiska (Tom) of Reno, NV, step brother and sisters Kathy VanVechten (Arthur) of Verona, NY, Patricia Smail (Charles) of Philadelphia, PA, Terry Fulmer (Keith) of Boston, MA, Fran Thomas (Eleanor) of Philadelphia, NY, Debby Anderson of Lakewood, OH, sister-in-law Jacqueline Blaine (Alton) of Avon, CT, brother-in-law Randall Miller (Michelle) of Westwood, MA, 19 nieces and nephews and her many treasured friends.
The Memorial Service will be held on March 29 at 3:00 PM at The First Congregational Church of Madison, 26 Meetinghouse Lane with a reception to follow. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements with the Hawley Lincoln Memorial, Guilford.
